Metering and Billing Officer

37.5 hours per week

 

We have an opportunity for a Metering and Billing Officer to join our Community Heating and Power Team based in London. The main purpose of this role is to provide a high quality and responsive communal heating metering and billing service putting customers at the heart of all we do. To ensure effective management of all heat and hot water accounts including the setting up of new heating accounts on new developments.

 

The role of Metering and Billing Officer will include:

  • Ensure that timely and accurate statements of energy consumption and charges for heating and hot water are generated and distributed to residents each month
  • Support effective contract management of metering and billing services delivered by a third party provider
  • Support effective recovery of all Energy charges to residents connected to one of the communal heat networks
  • Heat and hot water consumption is billed based on actual usage rather than estimated
  • Monitor the efficiency of the metering and billing system
  • Ensure that billing information for Housing properties are kept up to date
  • Work closely with site services  manager and external  contractors and partners
  • Provide a main point of contact for customers making enquiries on their heating and hot water accounts
  • Liaise with development and property services teams to ensure that accounts and tariff information is set up for newly built properties

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience either in the Housing or Energy sector
  • Numeracy and literacy to a minimum GCSE Grades A-C or equivalent
  • Experience of presenting debt recovery cases in court
  • Experience of working with multiple contracts, contractors and external agencies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workloads
  • Understanding of the principles of customer care
  • Basic Microsoft 365
