Building Safety Resident Engagement Lead

We have an opportunity for a Building Safety Resident Engagement Lead to join our Building Safety team. The main purpose of this role is to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Building Safety resident engagement strategies for Sanctuary’s high-rise residential buildings (HRBs), ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act.

 

This role acts as the critical link between residents, the Building Safety Team and the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), championing the resident voice to ensure safety decisions are informed, transparent and resident focused.

 

The role of Building Safety Resident Engagement Lead will include:

  • Lead the co-creation, implementation and continuous review of the Resident Engagement Strategy and all engagement activities for all designated High-Rise Residential Buildings (HRBs), ensuring full compliance with the Building Safety Act, the Higher Risk Buildings Regulations 2023 and the Building Assessment Certificate assessment criteria working alongside our customers
  • Establish, chair and facilitate a Building Safety Residents Panel, empowering residents to act as "critical friends" in reviewing safety case reports, fire risk assessments, major works proposals and changes to evacuation strategies. Ensure resident feedback is formally considered, responded to and evidenced through "You Said, We Did" reports
  • Lead consultation processes working with the building safety team and other directorates for significant building safety decisions (e.g. cladding remediation, structural repairs, changes to fire safety systems), ensuring residents are informed, consulted and their views are given due consideration before decisions are finalised. Manage statutory consultations under relevant legislation where required and ensure this is then directly included and evidenced within the Golden Thread
  • Develop and deliver accessible communication materials that translate complex technical fire safety and structural information into plain English, Easy Read, translated and audio/visual formats for diverse resident groups. Ensure all safety information is clear, timely, and resident focused
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the Building Safety Manager, Fire Safety Team, Housing Teams and Asset Management colleagues on the resident impact of safety works, ensuring project timelines and methodologies minimise disruption and maintain transparent communication with residents throughout

 

Skills and experiences:

  • To ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) level 5 and professional membership, Occupational H&S Degree or Occupational H&S Diploma (Level 5 or above), NEBOSH certificate in Occupational H&S or equivalent Health and Safety qualification or currently undertaking the qualification.  As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring with them the original certification verifying proof of their qualifications
  • Evidence of continued professional development in the field of resident engagement or building safety (e.g. training on the Building Safety Act, CPIER training)
  • Comprehensive experience leading resident involvement or community engagement within social housing, local authority or a similarly regulated public sector environment    
  • Comprehensive experience leading resident involvement or community engagement within social housing, local authority or a similarly regulated public sector environment
  • Significant experience of analysing information, identifying trends and producing tailored high level reports which are jargon free and are easy to understand
  • Experience working specifically with High-Rise Residential buildings (HRBs) or on fire safety/decarbonisation projects                                                 
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
