Senior Finance Officer

We have an opportunity for two Senior Finance Officer to join our Capital Accounting Team based in Worcester. Each role will support different aspects of the Capital Accounting function. The role will offer variety and the chance to make a real impact, while still drawing on a shared set of essential skills and experience. As part of Group Financial Services, the team is responsible for maintaining the Group's fixed asset register, reporting at both management and directorate level, and producing the key notes for the year-end statutory accounts.

 

The role of Senior Finance Officer will include:

  • Proactively evolving relationships with other areas of the business including Development Finance, Property Services and Customer Service Centre
  • Providing guidance to the wider business on the Group's capitalisation policy.
  • Responsibility for supporting the reconciliation of accounts to ensure income and expenditure is appropriately accounted for when reporting depreciation, and the disposal of group assets
  • Identifying areas for improvement and shortfalls in service delivery and recommending actions to remedy this, as appropriate
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register including additions, disposals and transfers
  • Production of journals to ensure costs are allocated to the correct location, including month-end accruals
  • Assisting with the calculation of capitalised overheads on development and reinvestment projects as part of the month-end process

 

Skills and experiences:

  • AAT part/ fully qualified, or equivalent level of qualification, or be working towards this
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications with proven Excel analysis skills using a variety of functions and formulas
  • Previous experience in a similar transactional finance role along with strong analytical skills is essential
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised, with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Previous experience using SAP would be an advantage
