Senior Developer
Worcester based with a balance of home and office working
£50,343 - £52,993 per year
35 hours per week - 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer (known internally as Senior Applications Specialist) to lead the management, implementation, optimisation, and support of our business-critical applications.
This role sits within the Business Applications Team, part of the Technology Department at Sanctuary Group. It combines technical expertise with management responsibilities, ensuring our application portfolio delivers maximum value to the organisation.
This is a great opportunity for you to work with core business systems that underpin Sanctuary Group. You will play a pivotal role in programs and projects to deliver upgrades, migrations, and new implementations, while mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders across Technology and the business.
The role of Senior Developer will include:
- Lead the creation of new team capabilities by fostering innovation and turning ideas into actionable solutions
- Lead and participate in application programmes and projects
- Optimise applications for performance, scalability, and usability using best practices and new technologies
- Configure and customise applications to meet evolving business requirements and goals
- Deliver 3rd-line technical support for business-critical applications with minimal downtime
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to align priorities and deliver successful solutions
- Drive collaboration across technology and vendor networks to ensure exceptional service standards
- Provide line management for team members, supporting development and effective performance
Skills and experiences:
- Extensive experience in enterprise application management, configuration, and lifecycle processes
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for complex application issues
- Ability to lead, manage, and mentor team members effectively
- Excellent stakeholder management across IT teams, developers, vendors, and business units
- Strong understanding of application security, regulatory compliance, and internal policy frameworks
- Proven track record in identifying system improvement opportunities and implementing enhancements
- Experience in risk assessment and supporting audits for compliance and governance

- Role salary is £44,192 with an additional policy allowance of £6,151 per annum (rising to £46,517 with an additional policy allowance of £6,475 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
