Head of Sustainability Policy and Relationships

 

Worcester based with a balance of home and office working

 

£58,428 - £61,503 per year

 

35 hours per week

 

We have a new and unique opportunity within the Sustainability and Climate change team to inform on policy, legislation, regulatory requirements and thought leadership related to sustainability. As Head of Sustainability Policy and Relationships, you will report to the department’s Group Director, and will manage external networks and grant opportunities to support us in achieving our sustainability aims.

 

The Sustainability and Climate change team is responsible for working across Sanctuary to drive sustainability strategy, including reaching net zero carbon by 2050 and building sustainable communities through the use of community investment.

 

 

The role of Head of Sustainability Policy and Relationships will include:

 

  • Analyse intelligence regarding policy, societal trends and best practice across Sustainability (environmental and social) with a particular view to legislative and regulatory compliance
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to support the Group's sustainability strategy via the creation of collaborative opportunities and an influential network across the sector.
  • Identify funding and lead the submission of high-quality bids to access decarbonisation grant and other relevant opportunities.
  • Report and present information including performance reports and updates to the Group Director - Sustainability, the Executive team, operations and central services teams to support decision making, business planning and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership for the development and review of high-quality public affairs and business development plans in accordance with Group objectives and good practice to meet Sustainability objectives.
  • Manage a small team as well as deliver projects via a matrix structure involving leads from across the business and external organisations.
  • Contribute, as appropriate, to special projects and change programmes in support of the Group's objectives.

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Degree, management qualification or relevant professional qualification
  • Recent experience of undertaking a similar role which involves managing external relationships
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work loads
  • Ability to research and synthesis complex information
  • Bid writing experience (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of the challenges and best practice relevant to the sector (desirable)
  • Proven experience of building effective relationships with external stakeholders (desirable)
  • Proven experience of managing databases (desirable)
  • Line management experience (desirable)
  • Some experience in budget preparation and control (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft systems
