Housing Officer
Beck Road Shiregreen - Sheffield
£32,887 - £34,617 per year plus £600 car allowance
37.5 hours per week
We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and committed Housing Officer, who has sound knowledge of the local area, to join our team of 9 Housing Officers and an Area Manager based at our Shiregreen Office. You will be responsible for providing a high-quality housing management service that meets the identified needs of customers and the wider community. This is a varied opportunity that will see you manage a range of situations and help to build key relationships between Sanctuary Housing and our tenants. You will have excellent negotiating skills and a flexible approach to working.
The role of Housing Officer will include:
- Delivering high quality housing management services meeting the needs and expectations of current and future residents and the wider community
- Responsible for a patch consisting of general needs and affordable housing properties
- Effective management of anti-social behavior cases
- Providing an effective tenancy and resident customer service which is in line with policies and procedures
- Managing tenant expectations regarding repairs and escalating any property maintenance issues affecting resident welfare via appropriate channels
- Dealing with complaints about service delivery focusing on first contact resolution and learning from this to help to develop an excellent customer service
- Liaising with colleagues in Property Services and Lettings to ensure the effective allocation of void properties
- Working with colleagues in other service areas to help the organisation meet its compliance obligations (fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety and data protection)
- Working with a range of external agencies to resolve a range of issues affecting tenant welfare including, domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour, and safeguarding
- Working closely with administrative colleagues to complete a range of tenancy management processes, which include tenancy conversions, permissions, mutual exchanges, successions, service charges, and enforcement of tenancy breaches
Skills and experiences:
- Proven experience of undertaking a similar role
- Excellent skills in analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing solutions
- Excellent customer service and customer care skills
- Proven experience of good practice resident involvement activities
- An understanding of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations and good practice
- Travel is a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential
