Fraud Officer

 

Base office location may vary dependent upon suitable candidate - balance of home and office working

 

£37,232 - £43,111 per year (dependant on base location)

 

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 09.00 to 17.00

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fraud Officer to join our Housing Team. The role will involve the coordination, prevention, detection and reporting of tenancy fraud across Sanctuary Housing. You will advise, support and work with local teams, external stakeholders and specialist contractors to help identify potential cases of fraud and where appropriate, take action to recover properties which are being fraudulently occupied. 

 

The role of Fraud Officer will include:

  • Acting as a subject matter expert on tenancy fraud issues, supporting and advising others on complex cases 
  • Working with Local Authority fraud teams following up on reports of potential fraud
  • The preparation of court and prosecution files to a professional standard for any proceedings related to housing fraud where representation from Sanctuary is required
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on outstanding and completed cases, including any cases which are being taken through the courts system

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Good knowledge of the legislation in relation to Tenancy Fraud and of policy and best practice relating to investigatory powers
  • Previous experience of working in a similar investigative role
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations, write reports to a variety of audiences and coordinate activities at a national level
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Travel is a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential

Role Salary is dependent on successful candidate’s home location as below:

  • London - £40,955 per annum (rising to £43,111 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • South East - £39,094 per annum (rising to £41,151 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • Elsewhere in the UK - £37,232 per annum (rising to £39,192 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
