Commercial Manager
Glasgow based with a balance of home and office working
£61,940 - £65,200 per year plus Company car or car allowance
40 hours per week
We have an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our team based in Glasgow. The main purpose of this role is to manage the central commercial surveying and estimating function in line with Property Services and the Group's objectives, critically assessing proposed works within set parameters for financial and strategic compatibility to ensure they meet the needs of the Group's customers and wider community and provide support contractor and supplier management objectives.
The role of Commercial Manager will include:
- Lead and manage the Central Commercial Surveying and Estimating team ensuring best-practice and consistency of service
- Develop, introduce and own processes and procedures to ensure optimised commercial and operational performance and all works proposals represent excellent value for money for Group and our Customers as well as meeting all regional commercial, operational and financial objectives
- Enact budget measures over agreed workstreams and cost thresholds on behalf of Regional Operations managing the approval process within set delegated authority limits
- Work with regional commercial teams to manage and ensure that all variations to works are appropriately captured, priced and approved
- Support the development and introduction of improved end-to-end processes and procedures over the purchasing of goods and services within Property Services
- Collaborate, co-ordinate and support the Property Services contractor and supplier management objectives with regional and procurement teams via the provision of robust performance data and reports
- Provide and present accurate management information and analysis to regional and senior management teams including, and not limited to, KPI performance versus agreed SLA's on functions processes
- Support the senior management team to optimise operating surplus and mitigate any risk to the Group, actively identify significant risks and opportunities and conduct deep-dive reviews as necessary.
- Provide commercial expertise to wider Property Services functions and assist in developing and delivering training where required
- Communicate effectively and manage good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure any issues are identified and dealt with appropriately
Skills and experiences:
- Degree, management qualification or relevant professional qualification in construction, surveying or relatable sector
- Experience in undertaking a similar type of role in the functions purpose with a proven performance in working and directly managing teams in high-volume, commercially focused, environments
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and current practice, including the practical application of Health and Safety legislation
- Proven experience of managing services within a budget
- Substantial contractor and supplier management expertise
- Working knowledge of developing and reviewing relevant procedures
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
