Caretaker – Part Time

£10.83

 

15 hours per week

 

 

We are seeking a Caretaker to play a vital role in maintaining a safe and well presented environment by carrying out general maintenance in the scheme and grounds, whilst respecting the privacy and dignity of service users.

 

Chelmsford Homelessness Supported Housing is comprised of 26 bedrooms in shared houses, spread across two locations in Chelmsford. We provide support for adults aged 18 to 65, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

 

Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, open manner are essential for success in this role. If you want to make a positive impact to people’s lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and work within an established and experienced team.

The role of Caretaker will include:

  • Carrying out weekly health and safety checks in line with established procedures and guidelines
  • Fulfilling general caretaking duties, including basic repairs, cleaning, landscaping and grounds maintenance duties
  • Maintaining an adequate supply of tools and equipment and restocking as necessary, to enable the effective delivery of services
  • Completing accurate daily work records and providing timely updates to customers
  • Identifying potential maintenance issues and reporting these in a timely manner, to maintain a safe environment

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role
  • Practical skills in identifying and carrying out minor repairs
  • Practical experience in operating hand tools and light machinery is desirable
  • An understanding of basic health and safety
  • Good communication with colleagues
  • Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
