Multi-Trade Operative

 

Based at Hargreaves Road, Swindon – covering the SN, RG, BA, BS and GL postcodes

 

£33,702 - £35,476 per year

 

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

 

We have an opportunity for a Multi-Trade Operative to join our Voids team based in Swindon. Covering sites across Swindon, Reading, Bath, Bristol and Gloucester you will be responsible for carrying out void works in empty properties including but not limited to fixing leaking taps, replacing baths, changing a door handle and hanging new doors. This role will also involve the following skill sets: UPVC/Composite door and window installation, bathroom/kitchen installation as well as plastering and patch repairs.

The team of 8 also carry out external repairs including fencing and groundworks and you will also be required to be on an emergency call out rota which is currently once every 9 weeks. A company van and power tools will be provided for business use along with a full training plan. 

 

The role of Multi-Trade Operative will include:

  • Attending properties to carry out construction, fault fixing and maintenance duties within social housing in order to bring them up to letting standard
  • Resolving problems or setting into motion the means of resolution, ensuring customers are kept informed
  • Maintaining a suitable van stock level and restocking these when needed
  • Providing accurate and timely information on the progress of works that is easily understood by the customer
  • Providing out of hours cover via a call out rota

 

Skills and experiences:

  • To ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to or undertaking NVQ Level 2 in a core subject (carpentry, electrical. If Plumbing Level 3 is required, Unvented - G3 Certificate and Water Regulations (WRAS). If you have a lower level qualification along with practical experience and would be prepared to undertake this qualification with the support of Sanctuary Group, we would still welcome an application
  • Recent experience of undertaking a similar role within social housing is advantageous
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Additional skills in some of the following disciplines – plumbing, carpentry and plastering would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of the health and safety regulations
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence

 

As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring with them the original certification verifying proof of their qualifications.  Copies and CSCS cards will not be accepted.
