Bank Support Assistant

 

Station Mews, Telford

 

£9.22 per hour (rising to £9.50 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

 

Station Mews has 12 one-bedroom apartments. We provide care and support for adults aged 18 and over, with a range of learning disabilities, encouraging them to develop their skills and live as independently as possible.  We are looking for candidates with a passion for supporting people with complex needs to live as independently as possible, someone who values kindness and patience and who treats others with dignity and respect.

The role of Bank Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing a personalised service to encourage residents to develop their skills for independent living and community integration
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
  • Assisting with providing personal care and administering medication
  • Helping to maintain professional relationships with residents and their families to support their identified wishes and needs

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working in care, ideally with residents who have learning disabilities, would be advantageous
  • A caring, approachable nature and a confident ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information to team members
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Mathematics, is essential
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards, is desirable
