General Assistant – Part Time


Queen Margaret, Glasgow


£9,362 - £9,854 per year


20 hour per week


We have an opening for a General Assistant to join our team at Queen Margaret in Glasgow. Our residents want to live in clean, pleasant surroundings and your role is to make sure they do. As an important member of our team, you will join a house keeping team of 8 and will report into a supervisor. You will be responsible for providing weekly housekeeping services in the residential flat on site and will clean the communal area including kitchens and common rooms.  The ideal candidate will have cleaning experience in a hospitality or residential environment, but just as important is your willingness to help other team members or residents.


The role of General Assistant will include:

  • Providing high quality cleaning services for bedrooms, kitchens, pathways and communal areas
  • Identifying and reporting any hazards and faults to ensure a safe environment is maintained
  • Organising stores on site and carrying out checks of equipment, replacing when necessary
  • Carrying out deep cleans of flats, clearing void properties, litter picks, cleaning out bin sheds throughout the site, water flushing in void properties
  • Completing set programmed works across site


Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of undertaking general cleaning duties is essential
  • Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workloads and work on own initiative
  • Some practical experience in operating cleaning machinery
  • Ability to understand simple verbal instructions and undertake duties as requested to help out other team members
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

The full time equivalent salary for this role is £18,724 based on 40 hours per week rising to £19,709 after 12 months service and subject to satisfactory performance
