Maintenance Caretaker

£22,312 - £23,486 per annum

 

36.25 hours per week – Working 5 out of 7 days

 

 

We’re looking for a hard working and self motivated Maintenance Caretaker to work within our student accommodation sites based in Dundee. Working pattern is 5 days out of 7 including regular weekend working. Therefore, you must be flexible, and adaptable to work across multiple sites when required. The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in a caretaking role including completing maintenance and compliance tasks within an accommodation setting. Working in a small team, you will be responsible for providing a safe, clean and well maintained environment for student residents. Some lone working will be required.

 

The role of Maintenance Caretaker will include:

  • Undertake reactive basic repairs and maintenance duties in student accommodation, undertaking repairs and reporting issues which require specialist attention
  • Ensuring statutory compliance is maintained including carrying out Fire Alarm tests, emergency lighting & water hygiene checks, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner
  • Record keeping in line with standard operations procedures
  • Maintaining materials and equipment stock levels to ensure cost effectiveness and availability
  • Assisting the management team with flat inspections and audits to ensure safe and secure environments in line with Health and Safety and emergency procedures and regulations
  • Ensuring the standard of cleanliness of the site is maintained including waste management and cleaning in accordance with specific site requirements and schedules
  • Delivering high quality customer service to our residents and escalating any shortfalls in service delivery to the line manager to ensure they are dealt with appropriately
  • Act as the first point of contact to our customers, responding positively to complaints and service breakdowns

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Experience within a caretaking or maintenance role is essential
  • Practical skills in identifying and /or carrying out basic repairs
  • Working knowledge of health and safety
  • Excellent communication skills allowing you to provide great customer service
  • The ability to assess priorities and plan work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, interpreting written and verbal instructions and maintain written records
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role. Therefore a full valid driving license is desirable
