Mental Health Support Worker


Longford Road, Bognor Regis


£10.26 (rising to £10.58 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)


37.5 hours per week – fixed rolling rota to include early and late shifts plus weekends



 We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Support Worker with the passion and drive to help our residents achieve independent living. Longford Road - as part of the Arun Resettlement Project in West Sussex - offers a mix of short-term accommodation-based support and floating support to adults experiencing mental health issues.


We support people to maintain a tenancy, and assist with recovery by using the Well-being Star, which is a highly regarded tool for supporting with recovery and is used by the NHS and many other organisations. The role of  Mental Health Support Worker will include:

  • Ensuring that relevant support is provided for our residents to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Promote safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks
  • Regularly assessing the needs of our residents, writing and updating support plans
  • Being a first point of call to receive and direct all customer and resident enquiries
  • Developing professional relationships with clients, using appropriate and clear communication to ensure that clients maintain personal choice, privacy and dignity

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of working in social care, or with adults with mental health needs
  • Experience of managing benefits claims would be advantageous
  • Good interpersonal and customer care skills with an approachable attitude
  • Reacting effectively to highly pressured situations
  • Good skills in maintain accurate records and support plans
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft packages and internet communications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards, is essential
