Scheme Manager – Part Time
Essex
£17,011 per year (pro rata)
23 hours per week – Flexible Working Pattern
This is a 6-month temporary role, with the potential for extension. It offers an excellent chance to develop new skills and gain valuable experience within the housing service.
This post is located at Whitefield Court in Mayland. Due to its location, and limited options for public transport, use of a vehicle is essential.
We have an opportunity for a part time Scheme Manager to join our team of 11 Scheme Managers, based in the Mid Essex, Suffolk and Herts area, working within Sanctuary Housing's Independent Living Service (SILS) for the over 55's.
This role involves lone working, however, you will receive regular support and collaborate closely with your wider team and colleagues. You will report directly to the Housing Officer and play a key role in the effective management and delivery of high-quality housing and support services to residents. This is a 6-month secondment opportunity, with the potential for extension. It offers an excellent chance to develop new skills and gain valuable experience within the housing service.
The role of Scheme Manager will include:
- Managing daily operational tasks within a housing/independent living scheme, including communal repairs, reporting issues, and monitoring works through to completion
- Ensuring full compliance with weekly and monthly safety and regulatory requirements, including fire alarm testing and water hygiene checks
- Providing ongoing support to residents to promote independent living, wellbeing, and tenancy sustainment
- Liaising effectively with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and specialist services
- Conducting welfare calls and welfare checks to support vulnerable residents and ensure their safety
- Planning and delivering focus days and resident engagement events to build community involvement and improve service delivery
Skills and experiences:
- Numeracy and literacy to the equivalent of GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths
- Some experience of working with older people in a support capacity and understanding their individual needs or similar
- Working knowledge of the key needs and services available to residents
- Working knowledge of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
- Some experience of problem solving and implementing effective solutions, including
- referrals as needed
- Working knowledge of handling confidential and sensitive information
- Good communication, interpersonal and customer care skills
- Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential
