37.5 hours per week – to include weekend working



We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Manager with strong leadership skills and a creative flair to manage the delivery of a quality catering service that meets the high expectations and varied dietary requirements of our residents. Internally, we call this role Chef Manager.


Located in the desirable area of Leckhampton in Cheltenham, our in-house restaurant is open to residents and members of the public seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and snacks. View sample menus and read more about our Taste restaurants here. 


Our Catering Manager will enjoy steady hours with no split -shifts compared to other areas of the catering world, which may be a good choice if you have a family to consider or you don’t necessarily want to be working late nights.


If you want to create restaurant-style food without the restaurant style hours, this is a great opportunity to hone your skill set whilst creating innovative menus for our residents in a relaxed environment.


Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly open manner are essential for success in this role.

The role of Catering Manager will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen
  • Growing the business and extending links into the local community
  • Managing, supporting and developing quality staff to meet the business needs
  • Designing, planning, and preparing a varied set of menus that cater for individual needs, including special diets and the preferences of each tenant
  • Managing all stock and wastage levels, ensuring that the kitchen remains at a professional standard whilst operating within commercial requirements and budget
  • Conducting risk assessments, identifying and reporting any hazards and faults
  • Overseeing all documentation, including auditing, HACCP, Health & Safety


 Skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience working as a Chef, Catering Manager or Head Cook within a similar environment is essential
  • Knowledge of menu planning and costing
  • A catering qualification such as City and Guilds 706 1/2 (or equivalent) is desirable
  • Previous experience of staff management and of leading teams within a busy kitchen
  • Friendly and approachable with the ability to interact with our residents, visitors, and colleagues
