Senior PMO Manager


Worcester based with an anticipated balance of home and office working


£56,726 - £59,712 per year


35 hours per week


We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior PMO manager to join our Technology Department. You will be responsible for leading the Project Management Office to ensure all project services, budgets, administrative services and resource planning requirements are met. The mission for our Technology Department is to drive and inspire modernisation whilst enabling our entire community to thrive. Technology is one of the key enablers of our Group’s strategy so having the right person to support the successful delivery of modernising projects and programmes is crucial.


The role of Senior PMO Manager will include:

  • Managing the development of planning, control and information management arrangements whilst establishing and maintaining a quality demand management process
  • Working with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement overall strategic direction for the PMO team, including establishing systems, processes and tools
  • Overseeing the provision of high quality management information to all stakeholders for all programme or project progress and issues to support ongoing operational planning and delivery including benefits tracking
  • Identifying and providing recommendations for continuous improvement of PMO, including the provision of information and resources to assist with blueprinting, project plans, risk management, communication plans and facilitation activities
  • Responsible for overseeing the effective delivery of assurance, governance, quality management, risk management, supplier management, change management and reporting, as well as overseeing the successful running of the resourcing calendar for all portfolios and projects


Skills and experiences:

  • Comprehensive experience of managing Project Management Office services for a variety of concurrent medium to large scale projects/portfolios, with an understanding of a full project life cycle and all roles within the PMO
  • Proven experience in working with others to effectively deliver projects, including indirect reports and third party suppliers
  • Proven experience of managing staff, liaising with senior stakeholders and relationship building
  • Comprehensive experience in mapping processes and building tools to support PMO activities and deliver business needs, including reviewing and improving existing processes and tools
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational, project management and planning skills
