Senior Cost Manager

 

National role - Base office location may vary dependent upon suitable candidate - anticipated balance of home and office working

 

£50,911 per annum (rising to £53,591 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance) plus Company car or car allowance

 

35 hours per week

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Manager to join our small but growing Development Consultancy Team. The team provides professional Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying services to the Development department and manages the majority of the Groups externally procured construction projects. As the Senior Cost Manager your main responsibility will be providing feasibility estimates and more detailed cost plans for potential development projects to help with the decision making and planning of the projects. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is able to work autonomously without day to day guidance, looking for their next challenge and keen to work for an experienced development client organisation. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to step up into a more challenging role and succeed. Base office location will be flexible within our national pay area upon suitable candidate.

 

The role of Senior Cost Manager will include:

  • Building up a data base of information to construct Feasibility Cost Estimates and subsequent more detailed Cost Plans, using bespoke cost planning software
  • Updating Cost Plans regularly taking-off quantities for any standard and/or bespoke house types and site layouts thus assisting with the viability of potential projects
  • Attending sites to review potential problems and risk ensuring these are accounted for in the cost plans
  • Providing advice on potential value engineering opportunities to stakeholders at regular meetings
  • Informing project appraisals on projected construction costs, thus assisting with senior management decisions on the purchase or rejection of development opportunities

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or working towards this is essential
  • Significant experience in effective financial management of projects including managing cost plans through the design stages
  • Working knowledge of building regulations, legislation and current practice, including the practical application of Health and Safety legislation
  • Ability to deliver services whilst prioritising value for money within budget and meet deadlines
  • Significant experience in and knowledge of using bespoke construction cost planning software and estimating packages
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
