Cyber Security Specialist

 

Worcester based with an anticipated balance of home and office working

 

£39,572 per annum inclusive of policy allowance (rising to £41,655 per annum inclusive of policy allowance after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

35 hours per week

 

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to join our Technical team based at Worcester. We are looking for a team player who can learn from others’ expertise and experiences and is capable of sharing their own knowledge.  You will be focussed to help to build continuous improvement and best practice within the department and across the organisation.

 

As a Cyber Security Specialist you will ensure that the technology, infrastructure and systems are adequate and cost-effective protection against cyber threats and all identified Cyber Security risks. You will be a technical person who loves to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, while also possessing the capability and aptitude to define and create standards and procedures.

 

The role of Cyber Security Specialist will include:

  • Integrating and automating our key security technologies, such as our SIEM and SOAR
  • Configure and manage our security systems with a particular focus on Microsoft Cloud security tools
  • Supporting the wider departmental activities such as threat monitoring, system hardening, project advice, vulnerability management, assurance testing and incident response.
  • Be a team player to ensure that corporate data and infrastructure are safeguarded from threats

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Experience of supporting the management of IS infrastructure in a large, complex organisation is essential
  • Cyber security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, MS100
  • ITIL V3 Foundation level
  • Clear understanding of cyber threat hunting, attack vectors, techniques, mitigation and detection
  • Proven experience in supporting the resolution of technical infrastructure issues
  • A good understanding of Office 365 security tooling including MFA, Conditional access and Identity protection
  • Knowledge and experience of cyber security risk assessments and risk-based approaches to managing cyber security
  • Good Email and internet communications skills are essential

Role salary is £28,375 with an additional policy allowance of £11,197 per annum (rising to £29,869 with an additional policy allowance of £11,786 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
