Project Worker – Temporary position for up to 12 months

Torbay Domestic Abuse Service based at Woodview House, Paignton

£9.20 per hour (rising to £9.69 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

30 hours per week

 

We are looking for a Project Worker with the passion and drive to help our clients achieve independent living and become involved in education, training, employment or volunteering. Ideally you will have experience of working with people at risk of domestic violence. Torbay Domestic Abuse Service provides practical, non-judgemental support, confidential advice, crisis accommodation and protection for all victims of domestic abuse.  If you want to make a positive impact to people’s lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and work within an established and experienced team.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Regularly writing and updating support plans to ensure relevant support is provided to residents
  • Supporting residents with their daily living skills and engaging with work and training opportunities in the local community
  • Delivering a perpetrator programme two days a week in addition to other programmes as required
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the residents, actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required

Skills and experiences:

  • Experience of working within domestic abuse and an understanding of the complex needs of domestic abuse, would be advantageous
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and source innovative solutions for complex circumstances
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to build strong working relationships
  • An understanding of occupancy agreements is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is desirable
