Support Assistant – Part Time

 

Oleander House, Telford

 

£8.68 per hour (rising to £9.14 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

17.5 hours and 16 hours available per week - please see below for shift pattern

 

 

We are seeking a Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Oleander House is a purpose-built development offering single apartments for 12 adults with learning disabilities. If you want to make a positive impact to people’s lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and join our small, friendly and supportive team.

 

Shifts for the 17.5 hour position are Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday in week 1 and Friday, Saturday and Sunday in week 2.

 

Shifts for the 16 hour position are Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in week 1 and Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday in week 2.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

  • Supporting the Project Workers with key-working duties and file keeping
  • Providing a personalised service to help residents develop their skills for independent living and community integration
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
  • Assisting with providing personal care and administering medication
  • Helping to maintain professional relationships with residents and their families to support their identified wishes and needs

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working in care, ideally with clients who have learning disabilities, would be advantageous
  • A caring, approachable nature and a confident ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information to team members
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Mathematics, is essential
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards, is desirable
