Support Worker – Part Time

 

Elizabeth House, Taunton

 

£9.20 per hour (rising to £9.69 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

20 hours per week

 

 

We are seeking a Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Elizabeth House offers one bedroom extra care apartments for rent, with on-site support. The role of Support Worker will include:

  • Ensuring that relevant support is provided to help our clients to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Promote safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks
  • Regularly assessing the needs of our clients, writing and updating support plans
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients, actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Providing front of house reception duties
  • Developing innovative and varied individual and group activities
  • Promoting and evaluating activities for clients, enabling them to reach their own potential
  • Assisting and encouraging service users to access and maintain a level of integration into the wider community
  • Working with other staff to ensure a clean and comfortable environment is maintained

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working within a retirement living scheme or relevant client group
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive and accepting approach to clients whatever their needs
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Maths
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
