Support Assistant – Part Time

 

Maryfield, Swindon

 

£9.22 per hour (rising to £9.50 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

20 hours per week

 

 

We are seeking a Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Set in the centre of Swindon, Maryfield has 11 one-bedroom flats where residents aged 18 to 25, with a range of learning disabilities and physical disabilities receive care and support. Residents are encouraged to develop and learn new skills to live as independently as possible.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

  • Supporting the Project Workers with key-working duties and file keeping
  • Providing a high quality, hands-on support service
  • Supporting residents to build the confidence they need to gain further independence
  • Encouraging residents to develop their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being part of their community
  • Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our residents
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
  • Helping to maintain professional relationships with residents and their families to support their identified wishes and needs

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those who have physical and/or learning disabilities is desirable
  • A caring, approachable nature and a confident ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information to team members
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Mathematics, is essential
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards, is desirable
