Specialist Project Worker

 

Bridge House, Sheerness

 

£12.27 per hour (rising to £12.65 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Saturday, including bank holidays

 

 

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Specialist Project Worker with passion and drive to provide support for our young people within the East Kent Young People Service. East Kent Young People Supported Housing has schemes across Canterbury, Swale and Thanet.

 

Our supported living service provides Young People’s Supported Accommodation and Floating Support Service (YP SA/FS) Service for:

  • Older Children in Care (16 and 17);
  • Care Leavers up to 21 years old; and
  • 16 & 17year olds at risk of homelessness identified under the 16-17 Joint Homeless Protocol.

 

Our primary focus is to support clients in a range of areas including; finding employment, recovery from addiction and building stability through a range of social activities. A successful outcome is achieved when our clients can move on to suitable long-term accommodation appropriate to their needs.

The role of Specialist Project Worker will include:

  • Managing, recruiting, developing and training a team of Project Workers to provide support to our young people and promote independence in all areas of daily living skills
  • Devising effective staff rotas
  • Acting as first point of contact for clients, staff and external agencies to develop, build and maintain relationships
  • Creating personalised action plans to address and effectively manage support needs
  • Completing and monitoring health and safety checks within the service and HMO services
  • Ensuring the smooth daily running of the service at all times and promoting the service effectively to others
  • Reviewing risk assessments to support, reduce or eliminate risks
  • Recording information in daily support and inter-agency records

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working with homelessness is essential
  • Sound knowledge of housing management including rents, tenancies and health and safety with a good understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
  • The ability to react effectively under pressure
  • Travel is a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential
