£9.99 per hour (rising to £10.30 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)


37.5 hours per week



We are seeking an experienced Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our clients.


John Baker House in Salisbury accommodates and supports people who were previously homeless. It has 18 single-occupancy bedrooms for adults aged 18 to 65. We work with a range of services to address the support needs of our clients and to help them towards the eventual goal of moving on to live independently.

The right candidate will have empathy and a desire to work with people who are often vulnerable and who may have issues in areas such as addiction and mental health.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Managing the day to day running of the building, including maintenance and tenancy issues, completing mandatory health and safety checks and keeping the building clean and tidy
  • Establishing good relationships with clients and assessing their needs to then be able to effectively develop a support plan.
  • Forging and maintaining links with other services to improve clients’ confidence, health and wellbeing and offer training and encouragement towards employment and education
  • Liaising with external organisations and representing John Baker House when a client’s progress is being evaluated
  • Handling occasional emergency situations
  • Keeping accurate and high quality written records


Skills and experiences:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults, people with mental health needs or substance misuse is essential
  • Good communication skills with a thorough knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive and empathetic approach to clients and to be a teamplayer in the workplace
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
  • NVQ3 in Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards is essential
