Bank Support Assistant

 

The Shore, Middlesborough

 

£9.51 per hour (rising to £9.81 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

Hours as and when required - to include evenings, waking nights, bank holidays and weekends

 

 

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic Bank Support Assistant to make a difference to the lives of our residents. Set in the residential area of Ormesby, The Shore has 12 one-bedroom flats. We provide care and support for adults aged 18 and over with a range of learning disabilities. If you feel you can promote independence, and support people to move forward with their lives, then this is a great opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team.

The role of Bank Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing a high quality, hands-on support service
  • Supporting residents to build the confidence they need to gain further independence
  • Encouraging residents to develop their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being part of their community
  • Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our residents
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Ideally you will have experience of working with vulnerable people, however candidates with enthusiasm, a real passion for the role and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply
  • You will be empathetic and non-judgmental with a positive approach to managing challenging behaviour
  • A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, listening and time management skills
