Mental Health Support Worker

John Pounds House, London, SW18

£9.89 per hour (rising to £10.41 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

37.5 hours per week – Mondays to Sundays, shifts between 8am and 8pm


We are seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.  We provide short-term supported housing for people with medium-level mental health needs. You will use your excellent customer support and skills while working with colleagues to achieve the best outcome for our clients. The role of Mental Health Support Worker will include:

  • Regular key working and support planning to ensure relevant support is provided for clients
  • Enabling and empowering our clients to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Assessing clients needs, writing and updating support plans
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients, actively encouraging choice and involvement, acting as an advocate when required
  • Sourcing innovative solutions to problems that allow residents independence to be enhanced

Skills and experiences:

  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management is desirable
  • The ability to work on your own initiative in a challenging environment
  • An understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ideally, you will have experience of working with clients with mental health needs
  • Experience working within a CQC registered service is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
