Chef Manager – Part Time

 

Nichols Court, Cambridge

 

£9.92 per hour (rising to £10.23 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

 

30 hours per week – Monday to Friday but may include alternate weekends with weekday lieu days in future

 

 

We are seeking a Chef Manager with leadership skills and a creative flair to manage the delivery of a high quality catering service that meets the high expectations and varied dietary requirements of our clients. Internally, we call this role Chef Manager.

 

Set in the charming Cambridgeshire village of Linton, with easy access to local amenities, Nichols Court provides apartments and communal facilities for over 55s. Our in-house Taste restaurant is open to residents for lunch six days a week and has a 5* hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency. 

 

Our Catering Manager will enjoy steady hours with no split-shifts compared to other areas of the catering world, which may be a good choice if you have a family to consider or you don’t necessarily want to be working late nights.

 

If you want to create restaurant style food without the restaurant style hours, this is a great opportunity to hone your skill set whilst creating innovative menus for our residents in a relaxed environment.

 

Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly open manner is essential for success in this role.

The role of Chef Manager will include:

  • Managing the day to day running of a busy kitchen
  • Designing, planning, and preparing a varied set of menus that cater for individual needs, including special diets and the preferences of each tenant
  • Managing all stock and wastage levels, ensuring that the kitchen remains at a professional standard whilst operating within commercial requirements and budget
  • Overseeing all documentation, including auditing, HACCP, Health & Safety

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience as a Chef within a similar environment
  • A catering qualification such as City and Guilds 706 1/2 (or equivalent) is essential
  • Previous experience of staff management and of leading teams within a busy kitchen
  • Friendly and approachable with the ability to interact with our residents, visitors, and colleagues
