Project Worker

£10.26 per hour (rising to £10.58 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)


37.5 hours per week – 4 week rota to include 1 late shift and 1 weekend per month



We are seeking an experienced Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our clients. Thurrock Teenage Parents Supported Housing has 9 bedrooms, 7 one-bedroom flats and 2 two-bedroom flats across 4 shared houses. We provide support for single young people aged 16 to 25 who are pregnant, or have a child/children.


We encourage young parents to develop their skills, increase their self-confidence and live as independently as possible. Our clients are encouraged to take control of their lives and build on their skills and strengths, to live as independently as possible.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Regular key working and support planning to ensure that the relevant support is provided to encourage our clients to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Supporting clients in their day to day living and helping them to live as independently as possible
  • Drawing up and maintaining relevant written records
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients, actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Assisting clients in resolving or preventing housing debts
  • Providing assistance to claim and manage housing benefits and offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions


Skills and experiences:

  • A proven track record of working with vulnerable people or homelessness
  • Experience of working with young people, particularly teenage parents would be ideal, but is not essential
  • Experience working with individuals to draw up personalised support plans
  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management, and an understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Knowledge of working with partner agencies and liaising with social care
  • The ability to work on your own initiative as you will be required to source innovative solutions to problems, allowing clients’ independence to be enhanced
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
