Project Worker – Bank

William Street, Grays

£9.44 per hour (rising to £9.94 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

Hours as and when required

 

We are seeking a Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.  William Street provides support to single young parents, aged 16-25 and their children, for up to two years.  Residents are encouraged to develop their skills and live as independently as possible.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Regular key working and support planning ensuring relevant support is provided, empowering our clients to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Supporting clients in their day to day living and helping them to live as independently as possible
  • Drawing up and maintaining relevant written records
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients, actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Assisting tenants in resolving or preventing housing debts
  • Providing assistance to claim and manage housing benefits and offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions

Skills and experiences:

  • A proven track record of working with vulnerable people or homelessness
  • Experience of working with young people, particularly teenage parents would be ideal, but is not essential
  • Experience working with individuals to draw up person centred support plans
  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management, and an understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Knowledge of working with partner agencies and liaising with social care
  • The ability to work on your own initiative as you will be required to source innovative solutions to problems, allowing residents’ independence to be enhanced
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
