Bank General Assistant - Cleaning


Baird Lodge, Ely


£9.00 to £9.28 per hour (dependent on qualifications)

Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.


We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Bank General Assistant – Cleaning who will ensure high standards of cleanliness, whilst adhering to health and safety guidelines. In addition to this, you will also assist with sandwich and meal preparation within our Taste restaurant and help serve meals.


Baird Lodge offers both housing and care, suitable for many individuals with care needs while offering comfortable environments and helping with the pursuit of independent living. Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly open manner is essential for success in this role.

The role of Bank General Assistant - Cleaning will include:

  • Undertaking general duties as assigned, such as maintaining the cleanliness of all communal areas and the kitchen
  • Deep cleaning the apartments when they become empty
  • Carrying out room cleans of apartments and laundry services that have been pre-booked by residents, on an overtime basis
  • Maintaining stock levels, restocking as required and ensuring equipment is used in line with guidance notes
  • Identifying and reporting potential faults and hazards on site, to maintain a safe environment
  • Providing a high quality catering service, including preparing and serving beverages and meals in line with health, safety and hygiene requirements
  • Ensuring residents’ privacy and dignity are maintained and respected at all times


Skills and experiences:

  • Working knowledge and experience of undertaking general cleaning duties
  • Some experience of working in a domestic or cleaning environment
  • Level 2 diploma in housekeeping or catering is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, open manner are essential for success in this role
