Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

 

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Bank Project Worker to join our Colchester Homelessness service at Blackheath. You will be joining a team who are passionate about providing excellent support to our clients. Colchester Homelessness Supported Housing supports vulnerable adults with complex needs who have experienced homelessness and encourages them to obtain the life skills necessary to move on into more independent living.

The role of Bank Project Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of clients by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
  • Supporting clients in their day to day living i.e. with cooking and cleaning
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting clients with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping clients to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable people
  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management, and an understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Experience and knowledge with housing tenancy law, housing benefit reform and rents and/or income
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and react effectively under pressure
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
