We are seeking an experienced and engaging Senior Care and Support Assistant to join and lead our team of Care and Support Assistants at Shaftesbury Place, which is located in a quiet, residential area of Cheltenham.  Our lively supported living service provides both residential care and supported housing with care for 28 adults aged 18-65. It has 16 bedrooms and two flats where residents can receive personal care and support, as well as 10 one-bedroom supported living flats.

 

We’ll nurture you by providing an induction programme, as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and support your progression. You will have access to Sanctuary’s Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The role of Senior Care and Support Assistant will include:

  • Leading a team of Care and Support Assistants
  • Working closely with staff to provide personal care and support to residents, and encourage them to enhance their independence and personal potential
  • Safe handling of medication
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
  • Promoting safe practices and undertaking risk assessments as appropriate
  • Managing and implementing safeguarding principles to ensure the safety of our residents

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Recent experience of working in a similar role with vulnerable people is essential
  • Previous experience supervising a team
  • Personalised approach to care and support, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive relationships with people from varied backgrounds
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practice
