Senior Care and Support Assistant – Part Time

 

Shaftesbury Place, Cheltenham

 

£10.37 to £10.69 per hour (dependent on qualifications)

 

32 hours per week

 

 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Care and Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

 

Located in a quiet, residential area of Cheltenham, Shaftesbury Place is a residential care home consisting of 16 bedrooms and 2 flats, as well as 10 one-bedroom supported living flats. We provide both residential care and supported housing with care for 27 adults aged 18 to 65, with a range of learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

The role of Senior Care and Support Assistant will include:

  • Leading a team of Care and Support Assistants
  • Working closely with staff to provide personal care and support to residents, and encourage them to enhance their independence and personal potential
  • Safe handling of medication
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
  • Promoting safe practices and undertaking risk assessments as appropriate
  • Managing and implementing safeguarding principles to ensure the safety of our residents

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Recent experience of working in a similar role with vulnerable people is essential
  • Previous experience supervising a team
  • Personalised approach to care and support, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive relationships with people from varied backgrounds
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practice

To carry out this role in line with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021 you will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 by 11th November 2021, unless you are medically exempt.
