Project Worker – Part Time

30 hours per week - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

We are seeking an experienced Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Birmingham Vulnerable Adults Supported Housing has eight services across Birmingham.  We support adults aged 18 and over with a range of mental health needs and learning disabilities to live a more independent lifestyle.


The successful applicant must be willing to travel to other areas for training, duty and meetings across our Birmingham Floating Support Service. If you want to make a real difference in people’s lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and work within an established and experienced team.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of our clients by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
  • Working alongside clients to enable move on to independent living
  • Working closely with mental health medical services and other statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • Completing records and carrying out some non-support related routine tasks
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting clients with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping clients to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks


Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of working with challenging behavior and people with mental health and/or complex needs
  • The ability to work on your own initiative as you will be required to source innovative solutions to problems that allow residents’ independence to be enhanced
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, listening and time management skills
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
  • Travel is an essential requirement of the role; therefore a full, current driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable
